Dr Shellie Morris AO
Dr Shellie Morris AO is a proud Yanyuwa and Wardaman woman and was nominated as a celebrated Australian vocalist who's harnessed music's healing power for 25 years.
Recognised as Officer of the Order of Australia, she's dedicated herself to the performing arts, Indigenous communities, and non-profit organisations. Shellie has received accolades, including Deadly Awards, ARIA nominations, and NAIDOC Awards. She sings in over 20 Aboriginal languages, promoting cultural revival.
She's an NT Australian of the Year and NAIDOC National Artist of the Year. Her work extends globally through 'Prison Songs,' earning film and humanitarian awards. In 2021, the University of Sydney honoured her with a Doctor of Music for her remarkable contributions to language reclamation and elevating voices.
