Gallery Extension Program

The Northern Territory Government is rolling out the Arts Trail Gallery Extension Program to deliver targeted gallery infrastructure and innovative facilities to complement the Arts Trail throughout the Northern Territory. This is a $30 million investment that will deliver jobs and economic growth for the Northern Territory through construction and tourism.

This commitment is being rolled out in Katherine, Tennant Creek and Arnhem Land.

Upgrades are currently progressing with the following centres.

Katherine

  • Mimi Aboriginal Arts and Crafts – construction of the new gallery completed and opened in May 2022
  • Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture – construction tender awarded October 2022

Tennant Creek

  • Nyinkka Nyunyu Arts and Culture – design of upgrades in progress to be completed in December 2022

Arnhem Land

  • Injalak Arts and Crafts, Gunbalanya – construction of new screen printing studio completed in December 2020
  • Buku Larrnggay Mulka Centre – design of upgrades in progress to be completed in December 2022
  • Gapuwiyak Culture and Arts – design completed with construction to be completed in 2023
